These are just a few of the many clubs and organizations that support and participate in the wonderful world of paddling.
American Canoe Association – the American Canoe Association (ACA) is one of the largest organizations in the United States whose mission includes education, training and stewardship. They focus on getting people on the water safely so they have fun, and promote policies that protect America’s recreational waterways.
Bay Area Sea Kayakers – live throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Their interests include flat-water paddling, kayak-surfing, expeditions and playing amongst the rocks in conditions that range from mild to wild. They maintain an exceptional website.
Oregon Ocean Paddling Society (a.k.a. “OOPS”) – their goal is to be Portland’s premier sea kayaking club. Members are passionate about paddling, and offer high quality trips and classes to all levels of paddlers. OOPS maintains an excellent website and its Resource pages contain a wealth of information. Qajaq USA – is the American Chapter of Qaannat Kattuffiat – the Greenland Kayak Association. They are committed to supporting Qaannat Kattuffiat and their efforts to preserve, study and promote the traditions and techniques of Greenland kayaking.
San Diego Kayak Club – loves paddling and wants to share their experience with paddlers at every skill level. They are mostly sea kayakers, but many have branched out to kayak surfing, stand up paddle boarding and whitewater paddling; extensive website.
Shasta Paddlers – enjoy kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding and anything else that travels on the water under human power. They paddle Whiskeytown Lake and the Sacramento River, and host a number of events throughout the area.
Washington Kayak Club – is dedicated to preserving Washington’s waterways. The WKC participates in local conservation and access issues. The club is both a river and sea kayaking association, and its website has lots of useful information.
Western Sea Kayakers – live in the Bay Area, mostly around the southern part of the peninsula. The broad membership enjoys river and ocean paddling.
