Kayak Movie Night

When winter conditions make it tough to get out on the water, we still find ways to gather, connect, and celebrate our shared love of paddling. To that end, we’re excited to invite you to a Kayak Movie Night at Richard’s Goat Miniplex in Arcata! Tuesday, February 3rd at 6:30 PM.

We’ll be screening This Is the Sea by Justine Curgenven—a beautiful and inspiring film that captures the magic, challenge, and joy of sea kayaking around the world.

And because it’s Taco Tuesday at Richard’s Goat, you can enjoy 2 full-sized tacos for just $5 while watching the film. Pretty hard to beat that combo.

We hope you’ll join us for a fun, low-key evening of kayaking inspiration and good company.

RSVP is a must, as there is limited capacity in the Miniplex. Consider a $3 donation at the door to help offset the cost.

NOTE:  Location recently changed from Big Lagoon to Stone Lagoon.

Meet at Stone Lagoon Launch/Parking 
Time: Arrive 8:30, Launch at 9:00 AM
Join us for a tour of Stone Lagoon. The plan is to follow the shoreline to the south, along the marsh and then a stop at the campground on the west side of the lagoon.  We will then continue out to the the sand spit that separates the lagoon from the ocean.  We will likely see a variety of wildlife that includes ospreys, bald eagles, river otters, elk and a variety of waterfowl.  

This paddle is appropriate for a wide variety of crafts, including canoe, SUP and even kayaks!! Please dress appropriately as it could be cool. Synthetic clothing, nylon shells, neoprene are OK but cotton is discouraged.

Wearing a life jacket is required.
We should be off the water about 11:30-12:00.
