Do you get tired or sore from paddling?  Do you have difficulty keeping up with the group?  Then this clinic is for you!  About 98% of the time we are paddling forward.  This clinic will teach you to paddle forward efficiently without stressing your arms or elbows.  You will be able to paddle for hours without tiring and no soreness the day after.  Experienced paddlers can probably use a tune-up.... because,. let's face it, we all get a little lazy and lose our form.

This is the first of 3 clinics.  Next will be strokes and maneuvers, then rescues.  This series is highly recommend for newer paddlers.....and for folks who could use a tune up, i.e., just about everyone.

Join us for  a day, a night or two nights at Ruth Lake.  It’s only 85 mi. to  Ruth Lake and temperatures are forecast to be 42 to 71 degrees.  We will be camping at the main Ruth Lake Rec. Campground.  If camping, check-in time is 2PM, checkout time,12:00 PM.

We will be exploring the 13 mile long lake and the 7 campgrounds dotting its shore.  We will paddle with exploration in mind, adjusting our paddle times if stronger winds are forecasted.  All boats need to be inspected before entering the water.  This can be done at the campground for $3.  Ruth Lake is our drinking water supply and they are working hard to keep out invasive Golden, Zebra, and Quagga mussels.  Make sure to clean and dry your watercraft before taking it to Ruth Lake!

If you wish to camp - you may make your own camping reservations starting Monday April 20 - or may share a campsite with Karen.   A total of eight (8) folks may share a campsite - but most likely 3-4 is more comfortable with separate tents.  Please call Karen if you have questions regarding sharing a site: @ 425-483-7136  

Bring your own food - we may eat meals at the same time - but a potluck will not be planned.  Water, showers, flush toilets are available.  

Boating gear:  watercraft (suitable for all safe navigation craft), drysuit, wetsuit, non-cotton clothing (last yr, 5/18 water temperature was 65 degrees- no guarantees), paddle, gloves, skirt(if using), flotation, sunscreen, hat.

Cal Poly Humboldt's Outdoor Adventure Staff has reached out to ENC with an offer for club members to participate in Safe Boating Week at HBAC.  The ENC Board is following up with their staff to see if ENC might be able to participate with on land or on water educational activities in addition to hosting an ENC table with information about our club.  If you are interested in participating please attend.  If you would like to participate in on the water activities or assist with staffing an ENC table please reach out to the club at:
