General Information

As plans develop further and more details are established, we will post updates and send them out to all who have signed up as well as in the newsletter.

When: July 27-30. ENC has several campsites reserved at East Pinewood Camping area of the Mackerriercher SP

Travel time: From Mendocino from Eureka is about a 3 to 3.25 hours depending whether you go via 101/Highway 1, or via Hwy 101/Hwy 20 via the Willits turnoff.

Where: East Pinewood Camping area of the Mackerrircher SP Recommend that they check in at main entrance kiosk. Contact Scott via text, phone or email once they have checked in.

Information will be updated as plans develop further.

Paddling

Day paddling trip planning: A variety of paddling experiences will be determined, depending on the group’s interest, skill levels, paddle hosts, and conditions. There is flatwater paddling in the scenic Noyo and Big Rivers. There are rock gardening, sea caves, arches, and more open ocean paddling, depending on conditions, from Fort Bragg, Russian Gulch, Caspar, Mendocino Headland and Van Damme State Park. All have good access for launching. Van Damme is easiest usually for short distance safe sea cave exploration. Please make sure that your kayaks are seaworthy, safe and appropriate deck lines, etc, along with your “kit” of essential accessories.

Camping Details

Cost of camping: This will be updated. We will determine a general cost per person after we see how many sign up. At that point deposits will be requested for each person planning to camp. We will calculate the difference owed as the event date approaches. The deposit will be non-refundable after July 13, unless the event is cancelled.

Camping Area: Currently we several campsites reserved in the East Pinewood Camping area of the Mackerrircher SP that can accommodate up to 3 vehicles and at least 3 total tent sites. Carpooling is recommended to maximize sites and minimize vehicles.

We are proposing having a potluck FRIDAY night at the campground, and also those that are interested go out to dinner together on Saturday night in Fort Bragg.
